The Whole Grain Initiative is a worldwide interdisciplinary collaboration driven by principles of:

  • diverse stakeholder engagement,

  • knowledge sharing and the open exchange of information and resources,

  • transparency and inclusivity

  • curiosity and innovation

We aim to increase whole grain intake worldwide by creating a deep understanding of the necessary prerequisites and existing challenges present at every level of the food system and by developing the conditions and tools necessary for success in shifting dietary habits.

The WGI acts as a comprehensive and independent interface of experience and expertise for the entire food value chain: bringing together stakeholders from the agricultural sector, food processing, trade, research and development, education and training, foodservice and retail.

We are an overarching independent counterpart for policy and decision makers, health organisations, scientists, and private-sector participants in the field of whole grains.
